Recently in Antalya, many people trusted tempting prices and had renovations done; but some companies did not finish their work, took the payments and left people out of pocket. This has hurt not only homeowners but also renovation companies that do their work properly, architecture offices and the whole construction sector. Yet if you take the right steps, it is quite possible to avoid this kind of loss.
The most common problems
- Incomplete or poor-quality workmanship
- Projects left half-finished
- Extra costs that come up later
- “Surprise” items that were not in the quote
- Constantly postponed completion dates
1. Always a written contract
Check that there is a legally valid contract that protects you, preferably drawn up by a lawyer. The contract should clearly state the scope of work, the total price, the payment plan, the completion date, penalties for delays and the warranty terms.
2. Discuss every detail and get it in writing
The brand and range of the materials to be used, the scope of labour, rubble removal and transport, whether renewing the plumbing and wiring is included… Make sure every detail discussed is given to you in writing. Verbal agreements mean nothing when a dispute arises.
3. Research the company’s track record
See their previous work in person, talk to former clients, and look at their experience and the warranty period they offer. Question whether the images on social media are really the company’s own work.
The cheapest quote is not the right quote
When comparing quotes, look not only at the total figure but also at whether the scope is the same. A very low quote is usually a sign of an incomplete scope or extra invoices to come. Please think twice when choosing the people you will hand your home over to; work with companies that truly love what they do and do it reliably.
